How to reach Ponta Delgada
Ponta Delgada, the capital of S. Miguel Island, is served by the "João Paulo II Airport". The airport is located less than 3 km from the city centre of Ponta Delgada. Shuttle buses to the main hotels will be provided by the Congress Organization at times to be announced. Taxi is a convenient alternative means of transport.
Flying to Ponta Delgada from most countries means a stop-over at Lisbon airport (Portugal mainland). From Lisbon, there are several daily direct flights to Ponta Delgada which take about 2 hours. There are also direct flights from Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Manchester, Toronto, Boston, etc. A list of the regular and charter flights from and to Ponta Delgada Airport can be found on this link.
The regular flights to the Azores are exclusively operated by SATA and TAP Air Portugal, meaning that the number of daily flights is limited and the prices very easily become expensive. So we recommend you make your flight reservations early in order to get reasonable prices and available seats in the flights of your choice!
